South Africa’s Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube, is set to host a media briefing in Cape Town today, Thursday, 11 December 2025, to discuss developments surrounding a marking breach detected during the 2025 NSC examinations.
This follows a statement released by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) on Wednesday evening, confirming that the breach was identified through the department’s internal monitoring and oversight systems.
“Minister Gwarube will outline the immediate interventions and the measures being implemented to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the 2025 NSC examination results,” the DBE said.
According to the department, members of the media will also be afforded interview opportunities regarding the matter.
