Marriot International offers two exciting career development opportunities aimed at empowering South African youth to build sustainable careers in the hospitality sector. These programmes form part of the company’s broader commitment to youth employment, skills development, and transformation within the tourism and hospitality industry.

1. Accelerate Orientation Trainee Programme

This one-year programme is designed to give candidates practical, hands-on experience in hotel operations.
It allows participants to explore different aspects of hospitality while gaining a deeper understanding of the industry.

The Orientation Programme serves as a prerequisite for entry into the 3-year Accelerate Programme.
Its primary goal is to help participants determine their career suitability and build confidence in a professional hospitality environment.

2. Accelerate Programme (3-Year Youth Development Programme)

The Accelerate Programme is a three-year structured development pathway in Hospitality Management or Professional Cookery. It is open to South African nationals aged 18–22 and combines academic learning with practical hotel-based experience.

The programme aims to produce a new generation of hospitality professionals who are well-equipped to grow within Marriot International and the wider hotel industry. Participants receive comprehensive exposure to management and operational functions, including leadership development and customer service excellence.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

Must be a South African citizen by birth
Must be between 18 and 22 years old (and not turn 23 during the application year)
Must have a Matric (Grade 12) certificate or equivalent qualification
Must have passed all 7 Matric subjects, preferably with 50% or higher in each subject
Applicants who do not meet the required Matric results may still be considered on a case-by-case basis
Only applicants without any post-Matric / NQF 4 / NCV 4 qualifications will be considered
