Big Brother Mzansi season 6 contestant Marcia Morata has officially left the reality show following a mental health episode that prompted medical intervention.
Marcia, affectionately known as Cia, exited the Big Brother Mzansi Bazozwa house just six days after the season’s launch.
The show confirmed her departure in a statement released on Saturday, making her the first housemate to leave the competition this season.
“Marcia Morata has left the Big Brother Mzansi Bazozwa house. She is the first housemate to depart the show since the season launched on Sunday, 11 January,” the statement read.
According to the production team, Marcia was taken to hospital prior to her exit after experiencing emotional distress inside the house. On Friday, the 30-year-old reportedly spent most of the day in tears and struggled to articulate what was troubling her.
Big Brother Mzansi said the decision for Marcia to leave the house was made following an assessment by the in-house psychologist, who determined that it was in the best interest of her wellbeing to step away from the competition.
“Cia will continue to receive all the support she needs after leaving the competition,” the statement added.
Marcia, a qualified teacher from Limpopo, had entered the house full of excitement and promised viewers she would bring energy and good vibes to the show.
Her sudden departure has sparked conversations among fans about the pressures of life inside the Big Brother house and the importance of prioritising mental health.
