About the Finance Internship
The Finance Internship Programme forms part of Magareng Local Municipality’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment. The intern will receive structured workplace exposure within the Finance Department, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
This programme is designed to help graduates gain practical experience aligned with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and National Treasury frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Academic Requirements
- A completed three-year BCom Degree with majors in:
- Accounting
- Economics
- Internal Audit
- Financial Management
Added Advantage:
- Internal Audit and/or Risk Management qualification
General Requirements
- Must be unemployed
- Aged between 21 and 35 years
- No work experience required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy is essential
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful Finance Intern will:
- Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer
- Assist with the implementation of:
- National Treasury Budget Reform Programme
- Municipal Budget processes
- Develop statistical reporting modules
- Capture and manage financial data electronically across all sections of Financial Management
- Participate fully in training and workplace development programmes
Performance will be regularly monitored and assessed by the Chief Financial Officer.
