It’s all kicking off on MAFS UK again, this time between Leah, her wife Leigh, and one of the other queer cast members, Keye.
Shocker, this drama starts with Leigh and Leah and their never-ending rollercoaster of tantrums and eye rolls. Though Leigh didn’t seem interested in her wife from the get-go, she took major issue with Leah finding other people from the cast attractive. We first saw it with Rebecca, but following the introduction of the intruders and a throwaway comment from Leah, attention has now turned to the new bride, Leisha.
“I’ve been humiliated in the past and I find it disrespectful,” Leigh said in Monday’s episode after Leah confessed that Leisha was “hot.”
The drama continued well into the dinner party, and again into Tuesday night’s commitment ceremony. Leigh issued a statement about it on Instagram, and though Leah has yet to comment, Keye actually went to bat for her with a statement of his own.
It’s something that all straight MAFS watchers should read.
Right, so here’s the argument from MAFS UK’s Leigh

In a lengthy Instagram post, Leigh wrote: “I sense a lot of mixed opinions on tonight’s episode, and rightly so! Everybody is entitled to their own interpretation of how something feels to them. I’ve seen a lot of comments talking about how I’ve overreacted or am picking a fight for no reason.
“I think it’s important to mention that it’s easy for things to be more socially accepted when looking at a same sex couple, especially when it’s two females, because “what’s wrong with a girl complimenting another girl?” And whilst I agree, the same standard should be held within a same sex couple as it is with a heterosexual one.”
She further argued that “boundaries still need to be respected” before suggesting that the reaction would have been different if it were a heterosexual relationship.
“I think it’s important for us all to remember that just because two women are in a relationship, that does not excuse behaviour that would not be accepted if the relationship were heteronormative,” she said.
Essentially, Leigh believes that same-sex couples should be treated with the same set of rules as heterosexual ones. She’s not wrong, and her feelings are more than valid, but Keye had a slightly different take.

Keye and Leigh’s arguments were different sides of the same coin, and while they seemed to disagree about the position of queer couples in MAFS UK, their points do illustrate one thing: Queer people are not a monolith.
He wrote: “No stop! That’s wild…’ People comparing a lesbian flirting with a straight woman to a straight man doing the same with a straight woman is wild. One is queer expression, a person who had to hide so much of themselves growing up, finally feeling comfortable being themselves, complimenting without the continual ‘oh all gay men fancy straight men’, ‘oh you’re a lesbian, you must fancy me.’
“Finally feeling you’re in a safe space. Do not confuse queer expression with twisted patriarchy. Let’s not mix the cocktails, darling.”
Leah did not comment on her wife’s post, but she did respond to Keye with: “Well said. Respectfully.”
