THE M27 has closed near Southampton Airport after a crash involving two vehicles with drivers warned of several miles of traffic.
The motorway has shut eastbound near Junction 5 following the crash earlier this morning.
Traffic is now being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the junction, National Highways said.
Drivers face delays of over 45 minutes and several miles of queues.
The agency later added that they are clearing up a spillage following the collision.
In a statement, they said: “We continue to treat and clear a spillage on the M27 eastbound within J5 at Southampton Airport following this morning’s collision.
“Traffic continues to be diverted via the exit and entry slip roads of J5. Delays in excess of 45 minutes on approach.”
