A MAJOR motorway has been closed in one direction after a crash between a car and a tanker.
National Highways said the M1 was closed northbound between Junction 15 (Northampton and Wellingborough) and Junction 15a (Northampton W) for ongoing police investigations.
Northamptonshire Police said it was dealing with a collision on the M1 northbound just before 11pm last night alongside other emergency services.
It added that the A45 was re-opened as a diversion route following a planned closure.
In an update this morning, cops confirmed that the M1 northbound past Northampton remains closed.
Vehicle recovery is taking place, said Northants Police.
The statement added: “The closed section is now from junction 15 to 16. A further update will be issued shortly.”
