Residents in Gauteng should brace for a mix of isolated thunderstorms and warm daytime temperatures as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecasts a partly cloudy evening leading into a humid Thursday.
Phemelo Zonke, a forecaster, said, “We are expecting isolated showers and thundershowers over Gauteng tonight, spreading into parts of Mpumalanga tomorrow.” She added that the central and northeastern regions would remain humid with scattered rainfall in the afternoon.
Morning fog and driving caution in Gauteng
Motorists should remain alert as fog patches could form early in the morning, reducing visibility to less than a kilometer in some areas.
“Please use caution if driving early tomorrow morning and maintain a safe following distance,” Zonke advised.
Hot day ahead
While the morning may start cool, daytime temperatures are expected to climb above 30°C in Pretoria and Johannesburg. The SAWS has not issued major alerts for Gauteng but warns of continued thunderstorms heading into Friday.
