A MAJOR motorway is shut and delays are building ahead of rush hour after a lorry caught fire.
A lorry caught fire on a roundabout at Junction 24 of the M60, with police and firefighters racing to the scene.



The westbound carriageway on the M67 is closed between Junction Two and Junction 24 as a result.
The slip roads are closed and the A57 is also partially blocked.
The fire broke out on the Denton Island roundabout in Greater Manchester.
Traffic on the M67 is already backed up as commuters begin heading home from work during rush hour.
Cars are backed up to Junction Three, heading towards the closure.
There’s also queues on the M60 past Junction 23.
National Highways posted: “Due to a HGV fire on the roundabout at J24 of the M60.
“The M67 westbound has been closed between J2 (Hyde) and J24 M60 (Denton). Greater Manchester Police and Manchester Fire are leading the response at this stage.
“Further updates to follow shortly.”
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At shortly before 3.10pm on Tuesday two fire engines from Hyde and Gorton were called to a fire involving an LGV on a roundabout off the A57 in Denton.
“Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. Crews were in attendance for around 50 minutes.”
