Limpopo pupil arrested for pouring boiling water on classmate

Police in Limpopo have arrested a 20-year-old pupil who allegedly poured boiling water on a classmate she accused of touching her private parts.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the incident occurred on 26 October during a school camp at Seleteng Village, which was organised for examination preparations.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that a 19-year-old male learner was asleep inside one of the classrooms when the suspect allegedly approached him and accused him of touching her private parts,” said Ledwaba.

COURT APPEARANCE

Ledwaba said the man denied the accusation. The woman then left the room, returned with boiling water, and poured it on him.

The victim sustained serious burn wounds and is receiving medical care. The alleged perpetrator was arrested on 31 October and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

She is expected to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A police investigation is ongoing.
