Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, known as ‘Shebeshxt’, has been remanded in custody pending his bail application on Tuesday.
He appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi said the charges stem from an incident last month in which Chauke, 30, allegedly fired a gun and injured a fan.
The incident took place on Witklip Street in Ladanna, Polokwane.
TROUBLES WITH THE LAW
“It is alleged that upon seeing the accused, they greeted him as fans. The accused allegedly responded by saying, “Kgane aletlale ka nna? (Can’t you get enough of me?),” before firing a shot in their direction,” Malabi said.
The bullet allegedly crashed through a window of their Nissan vehicle and injured the victim’s jaw.
The victim was treated at Polokwane Provincial Hospital before opening a criminal case, which led to Chauke’s arrest on 12 November.
Meanwhile, at the time of his arrest, Chauke was already out on R5,000 bail for a separate offence. He is scheduled to go on trial from 17 to 19 February 2026 in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court.
The pending charges in that matter include two counts of attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious injury to property.
