Lidl shoppers horrified by £9.99 Halloween buy that looks like it says something VERY different – so what do you see?

YOU can always find a bargain when it comes to the middle of Lidl.

But shoppers have been left horrified by a new addition to the centre of the discount supermarket – a neon sign that appears to say something other than its intended Halloween message.

It’s meant to say ‘Trick or Treat’, but others insisted it looks as though it says something else entirely[/caption]

The cursive sign is meant to say “Trick or Treat”, and comes in either purple or orange, for £11.99, or £9.99 if you’re a Lidl Club member.

According to Lidl, it’s perfect for “adding a spooky glow to your Halloween party”.

However, after spotting the sign on sale in her local store, Claire took to the Supermarket Deals UK group on Facebook to admit: “I do NOT see Trick or Treat!”

And she quickly found that she wasn’t the only one to have thought it said something else, as someone else in the comments section said they’d also thought it said “f**k ur treat”.

“I thought it was me lol!” another giggled.

“Glad I’m not the only one had to read it twice,” a third wrote.

As someone else joked: “Bet they’re all sold out by now thanks to this post hehe!”

While others took to Reddit to share a look at the sign, which they said was “open to misinterpretation”, and revealed they had thought the sign read “f**k gin treat”.

“That’s exactly how I read it!” one wrote.

“I’m really glad this is the top comment because I thought I was going mad at first!”

“That second letter is 100% not an ‘R’,” another insisted.

As a third laughed: “F**k Gin Treat sounds like a great game!”

“Well, I imagine this is why it ended up at Lidl,” someone else said.

“The Middle of Lidl is mostly just stock that manufacturers and other retailers want rid of.

“This isn’t a criticism! They sell it cheap and I love browsing and finding a bargain!”

However, some people said that its actually the packaging on the box that made it look like it was saying something other than ‘Trick or Treat’.

Tacky Halloween decorations

Interiors expert Miriam Gomez revealed the seven mistakes that are making your Halloween decorations look tacky.

  • Too much orange and black can make your home look like a Halloween shop.
  • Plastic tombstones come across as cartoonish rather than spooky.
  • Too many lights can be overwhelming, mix in some candles instead.
  • Fake materials and too much glitter can make your house look cheap.
  • Loud repetitive sounds can be incredibly annoying for you and your neighbours.
  • Inflatable garden decor look tacky and can float into your neighbour’s garden.
  • Not embracing classic elements such as carved pumpkins.

“When this is out of the box, the left side of the capital T will be obvious,” one insisted.

“So it’s really the packaging to blame, not the actual sign!”

“To be fair, the corner of the box makes it look way worse,” another agreed

“I imagine it’s not too bad out of the box once you can clearly see the first letter as an T, instead of the F it currently looks like.”
