Financial Management Internship Programme 2026 – Laingsburg Municipality
Laingsburg Municipality has officially published External Vacancy Notice 147/2025, inviting suitably qualified and unemployed graduates to apply for the Financial Management Internship Programme within the Department of Financial and Compliance Services.
This internship opportunity is aimed at developing young finance professionals by providing structured workplace exposure in municipal financial management, aligned with GRAP principles and public sector financial legislation.
Internship Responsibilities
Successful interns will be exposed to a wide range of municipal finance functions, including:
- Assisting with adherence to GRAP principles and budget procedures
- Supporting the development of statistical and financial reporting models
- Assisting with compiling budgets, financial statements, and management reports
- Supporting the development of financial policies and procedures
- Performing reconciliations and financial analysis
- Capturing and processing financial data electronically
- Exposure to asset management and insurance functions
- Assisting with Revenue and Income Management
- Supporting Expenditure and Supply Chain Management
- Rotational exposure across different municipal departments during the internship period
- Performing any other finance-related administrative duties
This internship provides hands-on municipal finance experience, making it ideal for graduates seeking a career in public sector finance.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- BCom Degree, National Diploma, or equivalent qualification, preferably majoring in Accounting
- Good verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work in a professional public sector environment
