Kaizer Chiefs news: Du Preez, Chislett, Saile, Potsane, Monyane

Kaizer Chiefs are back at home following their CAF Confederation Cup second round preliminary phase clash with AS Simba.

Amakhosi managed to hold the Congolese side to a goalless draw in Lubumbashi this past weekend. The return leg is scheduled for this coming Sunday at the Dobsonville Stadium.

With CAF football out of the way midweek, Chiefs turn their focus to Siwelele in the Betway Premiership. Amakhosi come into the clash without at least seven players due to injuries. George Matlou, Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Bontle Molefe, Given Msimango, and Rushwin Dortley are all sidelined.

Lebohang Maboe, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Nkanyiso Shinga have since recovered from respective injuries but will likely miss Wednesday’s match.

Kaizer Chiefs to face former players

Former Chiefs player such as Tebogo Potsane and Christian Saile have a point to prove and will no doubt want to have a say on Wednesday evening. Potsane struggled for gametime at Amakhosi while Saile was not given a fair chance to fight for his spot under Nasreddine Nabi.

Siwelele also have Kaizer Chiefs loanees in Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane, who bring recent insider knowledge of the Amakhosi setup. It is unclear if the duo will play at the FNB Stadium.

Who will Kaizer Chiefs run to for goals?

In their last match, Chiefs failed to score despite creating several scoring chances. New signing Khayisa Mayo has struggled for goals in recent matches but he is likely to start.

Ashley Du Preez might want to redeem himself after missing a sitter in DR Congo on Saturday. He is likely to come from the bench especially if his team needs goals.

Kaizer Chiefs are fourth in the Betway Premiership having accumulated 15 points from eight matches this season. A win might see them jump to third and keep their title hopes alive.
