People on Instagram are once again convinced that Justin Bieber is sending coded messages to his ex, Selena Gomez, this time in the form of a risqué pic of Hailey to mark their wedding anniversary.
At the end of September, Selena Gomez married Benny Blanco in a moment that saw both Hailey and Justin Bieber dragged into the conversation. Their families didn’t help things, undoubtedly stirring the pot, but people quickly compared Benny and Selena’s wedding to Hailey and Justin’s from 2018.
Though this might simply be another case of the internet not knowing when to drop something, after all, Selena and Justin broke up in 2018, his anniversary post about Hailey certainly didn’t help things.

In an Instagram post that has since recieved nearly 800k likes, Justin Bieber wrote “Happy anniversary bb” without tagging his wife Hailey. Ironically, their first ceremony happened on September 13, and their second on September 30, but for some reason, Justin posted the tribute on October 1 – four days after his ex, Selena, got hitched to Benny.
The picture itself, taken on the streets of New York City during Paris Fashion Week, showed his wife in silky lingerie and knee-high boots. It was hardly the doting image you’d expect from an anniversary post, so people called him “disrespectful” in the comments.
“Couldn’t choose a better picture to honour your wife??” one person wrote.
Another said: “You could have posted a decent and nice picture together. This looks funny tho.”
Others questioned the timing of it all, posting GIFS of Selena in the comments and wondering whether it was a thinly veiled “look how hot my wife is” to stick it to the newlyweds.
“They had another anniversary on the 30th, but talk about being late, considering it’s the 1st now. And he hasn’t acknowledged their anniversaries, Jack’s birthday, or Hailey’s birthday in a long time,” someone said on Reddit, questioning what could have spurred the posting.
Someone else wrote: “But yeah, we all know the only reason why he’s doing this is because Selena just got married.”
“God, this guy is jealous,” another said.
Coded message or not, it was a messy picture choice.
