Jonathan Ross has explained himself further after a story broke saying he was convincing his friends and other celebrities to not participate in future series’ of The Celebrity Traitors. Jonathan Ross has already been extremely main character in the acclaimed season so far with the chat show host being chosen to be a Traitor – alongside Cat Burns and Alan Carr. Whilst initially I thought it was quite a boring choice to pick Jonathan Ross as a Traitor considering he’s such a big name and clearly has a penchant for being devious, he’s been decent so far. But after he said that he’d been telling people he didn’t enjoy doing The Celebrity Traitors, Jonathan Ross now explains himself and clarifies what he actually meant.
Jonathan Ross spoke about his experience on a podcast
Wossy said on the Reel Talk podcast: “I know they’re already planning a second celebrity version. I know because I’ve had two celebrity friends of mine call me and say ‘I’ve been approached – is it good to do, is it bad to do?’ So I’m giving them the benefit of my experience, which was I didn’t enjoy it
“I’m a Traitor, that’s why. I found the lying really wearing, it left me feeling increasingly uncomfortable,” he continued. “We were lying all the time, because you’re sharing a car in with people in the morning, and even though we’re not supposed to be talking about the game but obviously some people do, so you’re lying then.
“So you’re guarding this secret that you have and others know that someone has. You’re on the defence the whole time and you have to look people in the eye and lie.”
After these quotes kicked off, Jonathan Ross gave more clarification
Speaking further on Twitter following these quotes surfacing, Jonathan Ross explains himself about what he really meant regarding his time on The Celebrity Traitors.
“Despite rather mis-leading reports, I am NOT discouraging anyone from taking part in future series of Traitors. I am pleased I did it – an extraordinary experience- but I did not enjoy the duplicity as the game progressed. It’s a tougher psychological challenge than I expected is all. But I would never try to talk anyone out of it – just trying to give them a sense of what to expect.”
After someone replied quite fairly saying “Did you not look up what it meant to be a ‘traitor’ before signing up?”, Jonathan Ross replied “Obviously I understood the assignment. But the immersive nature and other factors make you feel it more keenly.”
Whilst The Celebrity Traitors is great fun to watch, it’s clearly a bit different to usual proceedings for those in the castle. Unlike on regular seasons where it’s a load of strangers – most of these celebrities have known or met each other before and some are old friends. It does sort of change the vibe of the game.
