South African reality television star Jojo Robinson recently reflected on her cosmetic surgery journey, almost a year after undergoing a deep plane face and neck lift

The Real Housewives of Durban personality opened up about the highs, the discomfort, and what she’s planning next.

Jojo described her facelift as “life-changing,” crediting her surgeon, Dr Paul McGarr, for the transformation. Before going under the knife, she dissolved all her fillers, a decision she says made a huge difference to her overall look.

“I recently looked back at videos from before my surgery, and I can’t believe the difference,” she wrote. “People online told me that having a facelift at 37 was crazy, and maybe it is, but my response is, why not? There’s no definitive age for anyone to do anything.”

She went on to challenge the stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery and age, adding:

“If you’re unhappy with something and there’s a tool available to fix it, and you can afford it, then 100% age doesn’t matter. Why should I have waited for a more ‘appropriate’ age to do the surgery when I wanted to look my best now?”

Being in the public eye only amplified those feelings. “I’m on television, and watching myself on screen definitely didn’t help how I felt about my face,” she admitted.

While many assume cosmetic procedures are quick and easy, Jojo made it clear that recovery was far from glamorous. She described the process as “extremely uncomfortable and mentally hard,” admitting that there were moments she questioned her decision.

“You really do ask yourself why you did it, but you have to trust the process, trust the surgeon, and give your body the time and space it needs to heal. Nothing happens overnight.”

She was also candid about the practical side of things, from the cost, which ranges between R130,000 and R200,000, to the pain and recovery time.

According to Jojo, the surgery itself wasn’t particularly painful, but the discomfort was intense, especially from wearing compression garments.

The recovery period took roughly three weeks with compression, around three months to look normal, and she says the best results only start showing after about a year.

Despite the long road, Jojo calls it “one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself,” saying her results continue to improve with time.

To wrap up her reflection, Jojo revealed that she’s gearing up for another procedure, one she’s affectionately named “Goodbye Thunder Thighs.”

“Tomorrow I’m doing another surgery I’ve always wanted… you know I’ll keep you up to date,” she told fans.

This next procedure focuses on her thighs, an area she says she’s always wanted to refine. With summer approaching, Jojo shared that she simply wants to feel more confident and comfortable in her own skin.
