Johannesburg Water has announced a seven-hour planned water outage affecting 16 areas on Thursday, 13 November, from 9:00 until 16:00. The interruption will allow the city to commission new water infrastructure designed to strengthen the local water network and improve service delivery.
“This work is essential to enhance service continuity and efficiency,” said the entity.
The affected areas include Riversands Primary, Kleve A.H, Riversands Farm Village, and several Riverside View extensions (13, 36, 37, 38, 42, 59, 80, 81, 82, 83, 90, and 91).
Streets and alternative water points
Residents along Caracal Road, Incubation Drive, Rose Road, School Road, and Riversands Boulevard will also experience the water outage. To assist affected communities, Johannesburg Water has arranged temporary water supply points at:
- Corner School Road and Riversands Boulevard
- Corner Rose Road and Riversands Boulevard
- Corner Caracal Road and Riversands Boulevard
“Water tankers will be stationed at key locations to ensure that residents have access to water during the outage,” said the entity.
Infrastructure upgrade to strengthen supply
Johannesburg Water stated that the commissioning of the new infrastructure will bring long-term improvements to the reliability and pressure of the water supply across the Riverside View and Riversands areas.
Although the seven-hour interruption may inconvenience households, the entity emphasised that the initiative is a necessary step toward reducing future disruptions and modernising the water distribution network.
