Jack Whitehall honours TV star Nicholas Lyndhurst’ late son Archie by helping launch ‘passion project’ in his name

JACK WHITEHALL is best known for big laughs, but he’s got a big heart, too.

I can reveal the comic is helping to launch the debut fashion collection of the late Archie Lyndhurst, the teenage son of Only Fools And Horses star Nicholas, who died five years ago.

The two acted alongside each other in BBC sitcom Bad Education when Archie played a younger version of Jack’s hapless teacher Alfie Wickers.

Archie also starred in the Bafta-winning CBBC drama So Awkward before his life was tragically cut short.

Now Jack is paying his respects with a cameo in a new film to launch Archie’s dream of releasing clothes from his streetwear fashion label Fated To Pretend.

A source said: “Archie’s fashion brand was his big passion and his loved ones were determined to help see it flourish in his memory.

“A lot of hard work has gone into it and Jack was proud to play a small role.”

Jack plays a no-nonsense doorman patrolling a shop kitted out with Fated To Pretend clothes.

‘Big passion’

He’s seen nodding his head in the direction of the door indicating to the queue of shoppers when they’re allowed in.

The sleek video also features a cameo by Archie’s fellow CBBC star, model Nikki Lilly, and is set to track Music For Chameleons by Gary Numan.

Announcing the launch of Archie’s fashion collection on Instagram last month, alongside a link to its website (fatedtopretendldn.com), his mum Lucy wrote: “For you Archie from the proudest parents alive.

“There are still people yet to meet you. We love you. Mama & Old Man.”

Speaking about his passion for the label in March 2020, Archie said: “Fated To Pretend is always going to be the biggest passion project I’ll ever work on.”

The young actor passed away aged 19 in September 2020 from a brain haemorrhage caused by acute lymphoblastic lymphoma leukaemia.

He will never be forgotten.

ROWAN ATKINSON is back on Netflix and this time it is babies, not bees, causing him a world of pain.

Following on from his debut series on the streamer, Man Vs Baby sees the comedy legend’s character Trevor Bingley take on a new job as a school caretaker.

But a lucrative offer to look after a luxury London penthouse over Christmas proves too tempting to resist.

But his plans for a relaxed winter break quickly turn sour when, on the last day of term, nobody comes to collect Baby Jesus from the school nativity, meaning Trevor finds himself with another undersized and unexpected companion joining him in his fancy new penthouse.

Predictably, it doesn’t end well. The four-parter is out on December 11, perfect timing for some madcap festive fun.

HOUSE Of Guinness star Anthony Boyle sank ten pints of the black stuff for luck before landing the lead role in the new Netflix series.

The Irish actor recalled his sore head while posing for GQ Hype, looking a world away from his moody character, Arthur Guinness.

Asked how he felt when he was told the part was his, he said: “I was just really, really overjoyed – and hungover.”

Anthony also told how his relationship with his own brother primed him for Arthur’s competitive angst towards his sibling Edward, played by Louis Partridge.

He said: “I love the bones of him. But you want to beat him in a race. You want to beat him in a fight.”

NAT GETS PIED OFF

PASTRY Week is always a tough challenge on The Great British Bake Off, but last night’s show saw Nataliia leave the tent without doing much wrong.

Despite completing a batch of savoury plaits, followed by a traditional gala pie in the technical and an intricately sculpted tart showstopper, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith felt the Ukrainian’s efforts had been usurped by her rival bakers.

She said: “It was a bit unexpected. I honestly thought my bakes that week were fairly good – and the judges seemed pleased, especially with my Showstopper.

“So when my name was called, I felt stunned at first.”

The remaining six bakers will be pavlova the moon to make it to Meringue Week. . .

HERE WE GO AGAIN, LUCKILY

HERE We Go is one of TV’s most underrated comedies.

But thankfully the BBC is fully on board with the chaos inside the Jessop household, as it has green-lit a fourth series – and confirmed a Christmas special.

After Life star Tom Basden writes and stars in the sitcom, as dippy brother Robin, alongside his sister and brother-in-law played by Katherine Parkinson and Jim Howick.

Gavin & Stacey’s Alison Steadman plays a hilarious matriarch again in the comedy which some fans believe fills the hole left by James Corden and Ruth Jones‘s sitcom.

The festive special will see the clan venture off for a family holiday to mark New Year’s Eve.

What could go wrong?

ITVX will air gripping drama The Red Road next month – a thriller that presents two distinct visions of America today as played out through the conflict between two wildly different men.

The all-star cast includes Martin Henderson and Jason Momoa plus Julianne Nicholson.
