‘It won’t be easy’: Elvis Chipezeze warns Bafana Bafana

Zimbabwe goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has warned Bafana Bafana that the Warriors will not make it easy for them in their upcoming match.

Although Zimbabwe is no longer in contention to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the team is eager to spoil their neighbor’s chances of qualifying.

The Warriors have brought star players like Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat, and Marshall Munetsi to South Africa.

“It’s an opportunity for us because remember … we are also preparing for the Afcon and we are not taking this game lightly, like every qualifier that we’ve played,” Chipezeze said as per Sowetan Live.

Chipezeze to make life difficult for Bafana

Bafana Bafana need big wins against Zimbabwe and Rwanda in order to secure World Cup qualification. The Warriors on the other hand, will use Friday’s qualifier to prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which takes place in Morocco in December.

“We went out there and we tried to compete at the highest level; therefore, these two games that are coming up are also a chance for us to prepare well, so when we go to that tournament, we know where we are as a nation.

“So, it is a good opportunity for us, starting with Bafana Bafana and Lesotho, so it’s preparations for us,” Chipezeze added.

Bafana Bafana take on Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday evening. Kick-off is for 18:00 and the match will be televised live on SABC and SuperSport channels.

While Zimbabwe are preparing for Afcon, South Africa are underpressure for a win after getting docked three points by FIFA last month.

On Friday, it remains to be seen if Chipezeze will be in goals against Bafana. The Magesi FC veteran keeper has a habit of frustrating big teams especially in important matches.
