So if your funds are limited but you’re desperate to add style to your space, then you’ve come to the right place and will need to take notes.

The blonde, who lives in Warwickshire, confirmed that she was quoted a jaw-dropping £120,000 to transform her entire home, but is doing it for a fraction of the price.

With £40,000 to spend, saving money by making her down alcove units was one of her recent projects, as she said: “We were quoted £4,300 to make these alcove units – here’s how we did it ourselves for £460.”

First things first, the DIY fan did “the quickest job” which was building the IKEA cabinets.

She confirmed that to save “lots of time,” she ordered adjustable feet on Amazon to raise the height of the units, as her floors are “not level.”

Following this, she added: “I wanted our shaker doors to be more decorative so I cut moulding for the inside.”

After putting the units in place, the couple clamped them together using the shelf holes.

Moments later, she continued: “We then used timber to go on the top and the bottom of the units to make them look built in.”

To fill the gaps on the side of the units, the couple made MDF boxes and also created ladder frames which they glued and screwed together.

The woman confirmed that they got the shelves cut at B&Q using plywood and then glued and screwed them into the battens.

After cutting and sticking the skirting boards in place, the pair primed and painted the units and the final step was to add the knobs.

Following this, the woman reflected on her DIY project, as she explained: “We did have lots of people tell us that the gap at the top looked weird so we’ve pulled that moulding off, but that’s a story for another time.”
