- The squad, dominated by domestic giants, sees the return of Burnley striker Lyle Foster and includes two new call-ups, Shandre Campbell and Tylon Smith.
- Bafana Bafana are set to compete in Group B against Angola, Zimbabwe, and Egypt, with their opening match scheduled for 22 December.
The highly anticipated moment arrived today as Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos announced his final 25-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, featuring several notable surprises.
The biggest omission is Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane.
Despite recovering from injury and making a weekend appearance, the veteran midfielder was excluded from the final selection, a shock decision following his inclusion in the preliminary 54-man list.
As expected, the squad is heavily reliant on players from domestic giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who Broos hopes will lead the team to success.
In a major boost, Burnley striker Lyle Foster returns to the national setup after missing the last AFCON due to mental health concerns.
The coach also handed first-time call-ups to two young prospects: Shandre Campbell and Tylon Smith.
Broos named a 25-man travelling party, taking advantage of the allowance for two additional players beyond the standard 23 to provide injury cover.
Bafana Bafana are placed in Group B alongside Angola, Zimbabwe, and Egypt, and will kick off their tournament against Angola on 22 December.
SAFA confirmed that Mduduzi Shabalala, Iqraam Rayners, and Thabo Moloisane will remain on standby.
