Huge British band cancel string of gigs after frontman suffers mysterious JAW injury and can’t travel


A BRITISH band has been forced to cancel a string of gigs after their frontman suffered a mysterious jaw injury.

This Welsh band shot to fame in the late 90s and have enjoyed an incredible career with an army of followers all around the world.

Frontman Kelly Jones revealed the news on social media[/caption]

Stereophonics have announced that they have had to cancel their tour abroad after lead singer Kelly Jones suffered an in jury that has left him unable to travel.

Although they didn’t disclose what the singer has been diagnosed with, the star said he had been advised to stay put.

The Stereophonics were due to play a string of concerts in Australia, kicking off on October 17 in Sydney.

They were then set to head to Dubai on October 29 for a show at the Coca Cola Arena.

The band, known for hit like Handbags and Gladrags and Dakota, did reveal that the remaining UK dates, which kick off in Birmingham on December 3, are currently unaffected.

Taking to social media, frontman Kelly said: “I am gutted, saddened and disappointed to inform you all, that due to a displaced jaw joint (not caused by singing folks – just one of life’s tense dizzying mysteries!) the upcoming Australia and Dubai shows are cancelled.

“Refunds will be given at point of purchase. Flying long distance is not medically advised. The UK tour in December is still set to go ahead as planned.

Continuing, the heartbroken star said: “I have cancelled no more than 4 shows in 30 years and I hope you can trust this decision was not taken lightly.

“I work hard to put on a great show every night, my prep starts in the morning through to showtime.

“I respect you as audience members and I respect my crew and band brothers, the bed on which I lay, too much to travel with a doubt. Physio Rehabilitation and healing is the priority right now.


“There’s 13 studio albums there…spin the black circle until the next time. Love and good health to you all. Kelly Jones.”

Fans rushed to show their support for Kelly and the rest of the Stereophonics, with one saying: “Aww, sounds b****y painful Kelly, I hope you really are holding up, especially having to cancel gigs…I hope you make a speedy recovery and let’s hope we see that smile return again in the not to distant future. See you in December…Take good care.”

Another added: “I fly to Sydney for holiday from UK and had tickets to see you …. health is important so wising you a speedy recovery, Hopefully see you in my hometown Manchester in Dec.”

This fan said: “Hope you get well soon! See you in the UK tour!”

Welsh rock band Stereophonics were first formed in 1992.

Kelly sings lead vocals and guitar, Richard Jones plays bass guitar, piano and backing vocals, Adam Zindani plays guitar and backing vocals, Jamie Morrison plats drums, and touring member Tony Kirkham plays keyboards.

The group previously included Stuart Cable (1992 to 2003) and Javier Weyley (2004 – 2016) on drums.

Their debut album Word Gets Around was released in 1997 and charted at number six in the UK.

Stereophonics UK tour dates

The Stereophonics tour will continent in December.

The band will play the following dates:

  • London: The O2 (December 18)
