How do you cancel a Vueling flight?

LOW-COST airline Vueling is a popular choice for British travellers heading to Europe.

The carrier flies to destinations including Barcelona, Paris and Rome from a number of London-based and regional airports.

Air travel can be complicated when plans change, and while trip insurance is an advisable safety net, it is worth understanding airlines’ own cancellation rules.

Here, The Sun explains everything you need to know about Vueling‘s cancellation policy.

Cancelling a Vueling flight

All Vueling reservations can be cancelled within two hours of booking for a full refund.

This is a shorter cooling-off period than the 24 hours offered by most airlines, and any cancellations that are processed will apply to all passengers on the booking rather than individuals.

Customers can cancel by accessing the My Trips section of the Vueling app or website or by calling their Customer Services Centre on 020 3514 3971.

It is possible to cancel a flight after the grace period – but how you do it and whether you can get your money back largely depends on your booking type.

The airline offers a range of different fare options, each with varying amounts of leeway.

Fly & Fly Light

Both the Fly and Fly light bundles are standard fares.

Fly offers more luggage allowance than Fly Light plus a free choice of seat, but both are generally non-refundable.

The only exception to this is if you are unable to fly for a justified reason: serious illness, preventative isolation, pregnancy, bereavement or court summons.

These types of cancellations must be requested through their Customer Services Centre up to 30 days after the flight.

Without a justified reason you unfortunately won’t be refunded your plane fare, but you can still claim back airport taxes through Vueling’s virtual assistant if you do not fly.

Fly Grande

The Fly Grande bundle is the option with the most perks, including plenty of luggage, seat selection, priority boarding – and free cancellation.

This can be done up to 48 hours before the flight time in the My Trips section online.

However, passengers who cancel will not receive a monetary refund.

Instead, they will receive the amount paid in the form of flight credit on their Vueling account.

Flex Pack

Flex Pack is an add-on which customers can purchase when booking their flights.

It can be added to non-refundable fares (Fly or Fly Light) to give passengers the same cancellation freedoms as the Fly Grande bundle.

With Flex Pack, flights can be cancelled online up to 48 hours before in exchange for flight credit that can then be used for future bookings.

Changing a Vueling flight

Vueling also offers flight change services in case you wish to travel at a different time or date without cancelling entirely.

For Fly and Fly Light travellers without a Flex Pack, this carries a fee of around £50 if processed more than 15 days before flight departure, or around £60 after that time frame.

The fare difference will also be added to the price.

Fly Grande and Flex Pack customers still need to pay the difference for flight swaps but are not charged the changed fee.

The most flexibility is offered with the Fly Grande bundle which, as well as having no change fee, allows for unlimited flight changes.
