A grim discovery late on Tuesday night has left the community of Hout Bay in Cape Town reeling, after three men were found shot dead inside a car in Imizamo Yethu at Holomisa Square.
According to Colonel Andre Traut, police responded to the scene just before midnight.
Fatal gunshot wounds
Upon arrival, officers found a silver Hyundai i20 parked with three unidentified men inside, all of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
“The motive for the murders is yet to be established,” Traut said, “but we are not ruling out the possibility that the killings are linked to extortion or organised crime activity.”
The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, strongly condemned the killings, calling the act “senseless” and a “callous disregard for human life.”
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are now working to:
- Identify the victims
- Determine the motive
- Trace any potential gang or extortion links
Specialised detectives have been assigned to the case.
At the time of publishing, no arrests have been made.
