You might’ve missed out on Sugar tickets or just not be feeling a night out, so why not stay at home for a night filled with spooky thrills instead?
If you want to find the perfect balance between partying and relaxation this Halloween, look no further. Here’s a list of all the things you need for the perfect Lancs Halloween night in.
Pjs and blankets

Everyone loves to get wrapped up and cosy in October, and themed pyjamas are an easy way to get into the Halloween spirit for your night in. Why not invite your friends round too? Bonus points for matching pjs.
We’ll be getting comfy with a blanket and hot chocolate on the sofa. Sounds like the perfect moment to crack open a good horror book or curate your list of Halloween movies for night of eerie entertainment too.
Scary movies

It’s basically a rite of passage to watch horror movies on Halloween right?
Horror fanatics can choose from iconic movie franchises like Scream, Saw or The Conjuring. Or scaredy cats can enjoy more tame movies like Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, The Nightmare before Christmas or Frankenweenie to keep spooky spirits high.
You can share your Halloween favourites with friends or explore new movies like 28 Years Later, Megan 2.0 and Weapons.
Even if you do not consider yourself as a movie buff, Halloween movies can make great background noise as you enjoy other activities throughout the night.
Decorations and atmosphere

If you want the full Halloween night in experience, you should definitely set the scene with some decorations.
Light some candles for a soothing yet spooky look (just don’t tell your landlord). Alternatively, for a more lowkey theme, anything black, white, orange, green or purple should do the trick. You could create paper banners featuring creepy creatures, hang up bedsheets that look like ghosts or even twist string into spider webs for the corners of your flat.
With your home looking haunted, you’ll quickly fall into the spooky season and all it has to offer.
Pumpkin carving

An absolute classic. Everyone has carved a pumpkin at some point, and it’s always a fun, albeit messy, activity that leaves you with a cute pumpkin friend.
There are so many creative ways to design a pumpkin: You could make it into a cat, pinning some pumpkin ears on top; Any funny or spooky face will also look great. Plus you could even challenge your flatmates to a carving competition.
You can keep your carved pumpkin inside for some festive lighting, or show it off to your neighbours.
Themed snacks

Themed snacks are a great idea: popcorn in raspberry sauce would make for an easy blood popcorn, bake pumpkin cookies or make marshmallows into ghosts with two chocolate button eyes.
Whatever you decide to make, snacks will keep your spooky night in going and impress your guests. Plus you can enjoy your bakes while watching your favourite movies.
Halloween games

Games are essential for a night in, keeping you and your friends feeling engaged and connected.
Apple bobbing is a fun one. Who doesn’t enjoy watching friends fail to grab an apple and get drenched in the process? Mummy wrapping is another fun game – simply see who can wrap a friend in toilet roll quickest.
If you fancy something more relaxed or creative, what about pumpkin painting? Classic party games like charades and duck duck goose could also be fun, as could truth or dare and never have I ever.
You could also get everyone screaming from the jump scares playing horror video games like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Resident Evil and Outlast.
Costumes

Why not dress up as your favourite icon to get into the Halloween mood? You could do couples costumes, or dress up as something starting with the first letter of your name. If you want to add a little something extra to the dress up experience, you could have a cute best dressed competition too!
