Here are four of the best ways to celebrate Halloween with your KCL flatmates

It’s officially spooky season. Whether you enjoy the Halloween themed club nights or a night in, sometimes the best memories come from celebrating with your flatmates.
From pulling together a last-minute group costume, to turning your kitchen into a party venue or spending the night in with a scary film and snacks, there’s no wrong way to get in the spirit.
So, here is a round up of some of the best ways to make this Halloween with your flatmates one to remember.

Group Costumes

The most exciting part of Halloween is, without a doubt, dressing up (especially with friends). From raiding each other’s wardrobes, swapping accessories and turning your living room into a chaotic dressing room, the getting ready can be more fun than the actual event.
Here are some of our top picks for last-minute group costumes. First up, men in black. Dust off your white button up, blazer and of course sunglasses. Bonus points for fake blasters. Next, crayons. Just grab a bright colour shirt and you’re instantly a walking box of crayons. Finally, minions. All you need is a yellow t-shirt and jeans. Painting your faces yellow and drawing fake goggles would be a perfect final touch.

Campus Events

KCL societies are getting into the Halloween spirit this year, and these events are worth checking out. Both Guy’s Bar and The Vault are hosting Halloween-themed Sports Nights on October 29th complete with costume contests and exclusive Halloween specials. On the 31st, Guy’s Bar is also hosting a “scareoke” followed by the ultimate fright night afterparty.

The KCL Student Union is also promoting the Halloween rave at The Steel Yard. If hypnotic beats are your vibe, this one is not to be missed. For those who love a good theme party, KCL ABACUS, together with other London universities, are hosting a “Partners in Crime” Halloween party at E1 on October 30th. You might have to split your flatmates into pairs, but it’s the perfect excuse to dress in iconic duo costumes and have double the fun.

London musts

There are many Halloween activities around London to enjoy with your flatmates. What could be more fun than wandering through the after-dark Halloween trail at Kew Gardens? If you’re on a budget, why not visit the Dalston Pumpkin Lantern Show, running from the 27th to 31st of October.
Entry is completely free, with a reservation only needed for pumpkin carving. With lanterns lit from six pm onward in the cosy autumn atmosphere, this is the perfect way to spend Halloween with your flatmates.

Cosy night in

For the non-party goers, there is nothing quite like a Halloween movie marathon with your friends. Picture this: Your common room filled with the smell of pumpkin candles and way too many sweets. A night in bundled up in blankets, binge watching each of your favourite horror movies and jumping at the scary parts together is the best way to spend Halloween without having to brave the cold or the crowd.

The best eerie movie of our generation, Caroline, is a non-negotiable for the annual rewatch. If you are in the mood for a blend of unsettling classics, The Shining and The Silence of The Lambs will not fail to send a shiver down your spine.
