Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye feels Amakhosi are playing their star player,, Mfundo Vilakazi out of position.
The 19-year-old has been exceptional this season and was part of the Amajita’s squad, which reached the last 16 in Chile last month.
Khanye, who played for Amakhosi in the early to mid-2000s, has questioned the club’s development coaches. He felt that although the attacker has potential, he has not been developed the right well.
“Mfundo Vilakazi, the boy, knows football, but I believe he’s being played out of position,” Khanye told KickOff.
“But for now, they can’t rely on him; it shouldn’t be the case. Yes, the boy is one of the best talents produced in South Africa, but I guess his talent was not nurtured properly,” he added.

Against Orbit College, Vilakazi scored in the second half but Khanye criticised the young attacker’s performance in the first half.
“I don’t think he was developed in the right way, and worse, he’s being played out of position; that’s why in the first half of the Orbit College match, he was nowhere to be seen,” said the ex-winger.
With Vilakazi showing good form this season, Chiefs can actually fight for both the Betway Premiership and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The youngster has combined well with another Amakhosi youth product, Mduduzi Shabalala. Upfront, Flavio Silva has been hitting the back of the net making life easier for the young duo.
