We’re down in Lagos, Nigeria this week for Spotify’s Greasy Tunes celebration.
This time it’s Naija’s popular genre Afrobeats which takes the spotlight with a two-week celebration running from 1–19 October 2025. This edition is a follow-up to the 2023 Greasy Tunes which was happening in Johannesburg’s Braamfontein, this time expanding into the heart of Nigeria’s cultural capital.
For two weeks, Fired & Ice in Lekki will serve as the main hub, transformed into a lively space featuring a food and drinks bar, the Greasy Tunes Café, exclusive merch, and cultural spoils. The program blends music, conversation, food, and fashion, capturing the essence of Nigeria’s creative energy.
Highlights include performances by South Africa’s Thakzin and Nigeria’s Fola, along with a lineup of DJ sets and live music experiences. Spotify is also curating fryer-side (fireside) chats with leading Nigerian artists including Made Kuti, Spinall, and Vector, offering fans an intimate chance to connect with the voices shaping today’s Afrobeats movement.
With its unique mix of music, style, and community, Greasy Tunes is set to create another unforgettable celebration of culture, further cementing Afrobeats as a driving force in global music.
