The Durham Tab is officially looking for a new TikTok editor! If you’ve seen our reels and TikToks and enjoyed them (or think they need urgent improvement, as we’ll always welcome constructive feedback) and would like to get involved, here’s your chance.
We’re looking for students who keep their eyes on upcoming trends and are passionate about creating relatable and entertaining content about campus life.
The deadline for applications is 23:59pm on Thursday 23rd October and you can apply via the Google form at the bottom of this article.
Why be part of The Durham Tab?
More broadly, being part of The Durham Tab team means being involved in one of the hottest pages on campus. It’s an opportunity to be involved with a huge team (we have 120 writers and four editors (pictured above) currently!) and reach students across Durham. We cover a range of content from news to memes to trends to mini mic interviews – all of which we share on TikTok and reels.

What makes a good TikTok editor?
A good TikTok editor is someone who is creative, funny, and reliable. We’d like to reach as many people as we can with our content, so we are looking for someone who can keep up with recent trends, manage a range of content, and (ideally) make some viral videos about all things Durham….
It’s required that the TikTok Editor is able to use various editing software such as CapCut and Canva to create TikTok content – which may be long news videos, viral trends, uni memes and much more!
You must be confident in front of the camera for filming TikTok videos too, whether that’s trending sounds and video formats, silly vox pops or serious news uploads.
The editorial team will be running weekly meetings across the academic year, which the successful applicant is expected to attend.
