Gqeberha Flying Squad seizes drugs worth R28 million

The Gqeberha Flying Squad arrested three suspects on 2 October 2025, after a major drug bust in the Coega Industrial Area.

Police confiscated drugs worth an estimated R28 million.

DRUG BUST AT THE COEGA INDUSTRIAL AREA

During crime-preventative patrols, officers spotted a white Toyota RAV4 parked suspiciously.

The Gqeberha Flying Squad saw two men loading large brown packs into the vehicle. Upon inspection, the squad found three packs of dagga with a street value of about R21.3 million.

Police also seized uncut crystal meth valued at R2.2 million and confiscated cocaine worth approximately R5 million.

The flying squad removed the drugs from circulation before they reached communities.

SUSPECTS TO APPEAR IN COURT

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the three suspects remain in custody.

They face charges of possession and dealing in drugs. They will appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court soon.

DISTRICT COMMISSIONER APPLAUDS GQEBERHA FLYING SQUAD

District Commissioner Major General Vuyisile Ncatha praised the squad for its dedication.

“The confiscation of these drugs has undoubtedly prevented them from reaching our communities and destroying lives. We will continue to intensify operations targeting drug dealers and organised crime syndicates,” said Ncatha.

Rensburg also urged community members to work with the police in combating drug dealing and organised crime.
