Get your game on at rAge Expo in Johannesburg this weekend

Gaming geeks, tech enthusiasts and cosplay creatives, rejoice – this week, rAge Expo is returning to Johannesburg!

The event, which touts itself as “South Africa’s longest-running video gaming, technology, esports, geek culture and digital entertainment exhibition”, is set to take place this weekend.

If you’re ready to blast off into Mzansi’s geekosphere, here’s everything you need to know about attending:

HOW TO PLAY, EXPLORE AND CONNECT AT rAGE EXPO

The expo will transform Level 8 of Fourways Mall in Sandton into a nerd’s nirvana over the course of three days.

It will run between Friday, 5 December 2025, and Sunday, 7 December 2025. It starts at 09:00 and ends at 18:00.

Tickets are available to purchase from Howler. For the Day Pass and the Weekend Pass, it will cost R220 and R460, respectively. If you’re buying them at the door, they will cost R240 and R480 each.

The Family Pass ticket, priced at R620, admits two adults and two children ages seven to 16. Children under the age of six can enter for free.

LEVEL UP AT THE EXHIBITOR STANDS

The rAGE expo promises plenty of fun, excitement and interaction with folks from different fandoms.

You’ll also get the opportunity to explore different exhibitor stands in various designated areas, from Artist Alley to the Esports Zone. You can get to know local creators and buy their wares, ranging from prints and handicrafts to indie publications, tech hardware and clay figures of your favourite fictional characters.

ESPORTS TOURNAMENTS AND COSPLAY GALORE

If you love competitive gaming, there’ll be esports tournaments that will take place. Here, you can watch the cream of South Africa’s gaming crop playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Valorant, League of Legends and EA Sports FC 25, among other full-throttle titles.

For the anime lovers, the Anime After Hours stage is where you can partake in daily quizzes and karaoke sessions, attend an artist’s panel and watch idols like Chan & Elle, Official_.IVI and Nexus performing.

You can also participate in the GES Cosplay contests, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Or, if you feel like cosplaying just for the fun and vibes, then you’re highly encouraged to show up and show off your best PG-rated outfits at the expo.
