Gayton compares himself to Malema – AGAIN!

Not for the first time, Gayton McKenzie has compared himself to Julius Malema, whom he has previously labelled a “bank robber”.

This comes after the Economic Freedom Fighter  (EFF) leader appeared in the East London Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 September, where he is awaiting a judgment on a criminal case.

Malema is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging it in a public place.

MALEMA LIKENS HIMSELF TO MALEMA IN COURT

On his X account, Gayton McKenzie tweeted two pictures: one of Malema in court on Monday and an old one of himself after his release from prison after serving time for armed robbery.

“I know the feeling”, the Minister of Sport, Art and Culture posted of his political party rival.

In July, Gayton accused Julius Malema of having more than politics in common with him.

He said during a Facebook Live: “Do you know what Malema and I have in common? We are both bank robbers. He was VBS. We are ex-criminal colleagues. I used to rob banks…he is robbing banks too.”

The minister is referring to allegations that the EFF leader and his then-colleague Floyd Shivambu defrauded the now-defunct VBS Bank of millions for their own luxury lifestyle.

Gayton took another cheap shot at Malema and his party, adding: “The EFF is in the ICU. They’re waiting for the day the machine is shut off. There is no politics; there is just gossip. That leader, Malema, is like an old auntie who just gossips. He doesn’t talk about his party, his policies, or what they’re going to do.”

‘I’VE NEVER BEEN TO JAIL’

After being labelled a “bank robber”, Malema publicly clapped back at Gayton McKenzie, whom he had previously labelled a “jailbird”.

He told EWN: “I never went to jail, I never got arrested for stealing. I’ve never robbed anything in my entire life. Never.”

“I’ve never engaged with them like that. Because I showed Kenny [Kunene] the door.”

Malema threatened to sue Gayton for “damaging my image”.

He continued: “I will take him on. Don’t lie about me… If you become personal, I will sue you. I don’t play games.”
