Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) invites unemployed youth residing within the Garden Route District to apply for the Skills Mecca Technician Internship Programme 2025 (Notice number: 108/2025).

Internship Overview
The Garden Route Skills Mecca Technician Internship aims to support integrated and sustainable skills development within the Southern Cape and Little Karoo. Interns will work with local municipalities to promote skills training, identify funding opportunities, and support youth development initiatives in the region.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- NQF Level 5 Qualification in one of the following fields:
- Business
- Economics
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Management Assistant
- Public Administration
- Computer literacy with MS Office and internet skills
- Ability to communicate professionally
- Preference will be given to applicants with:
- At least 1 year’s experience in coordinating programmes with unemployed learners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Language proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans and/or English and/or IsiXhosa)
Duties
Successful candidates will:
- Work with Training and Development Units in municipalities to identify employer skills needs
- Identify funding opportunities and draft proposals for skills development projects
- Compile, manage, and present quarterly reports at the Municipal Skills INDABA
- Organize and coordinate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements
- Support the Garden Route Skills Mecca with recruitment, contracting, monitoring, and management of learners in skills programmes
- Participate in mentoring and training initiatives led by the District Municipality
Stipend
- A monthly stipend will be provided (amount to be communicated upon appointment)
- Note: No travelling expenses will be covered – candidates must apply only if they reside within the Garden Route District
