Trevor Noah has courted controversy – again – this time, after making light of Charlie Kirk’s assassination last month.
The South African comedian name-dropped the US right-wing activist’s death in a stand-up show in New York this week.
His comments come weeks after talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was temporarily removed from the air over his comments about Kirk.
TREVOR NOAH SLAMMED OVER CHARLIE KIRK ‘JOKE’
In a clip posted on the X platform, Trevor Noah claimed he was warned not to make jokes about Charlie Kirk’s death.
The US conservative was shot at close range whilst speaking at a rally at Utah Valley University.
In the clip, Trevor says, “I wasn’t going to say anything about Charlie Kirk….but now you’ve tested me. You can’t say there’s nothing funny about it. As a comedian, I’m sure there is something funny about it.
He continued: “The guy was shot while defending guns. Do you understand how I’m not even writing that as a joke? As a human, you have to admit that it is an incongruous, funny thing that happens.
Trevor Noah – who mimicked the moment Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck – went on to compare the right-wing activist’s death to the sinking of the Titanic.
“That would be like if the captain of the Titanic was giving an impassioned speech about icebergs right before it happened. He’s like, ‘I’ll tell you why icebergs are not as bad as people say. ’ The whole thing is ridiculous”.
Trevor’s joke was met with backlash by many social media users, who called for him to be “cancelled”.
WHAT DID HE SAY MOMENTS BEFORE HIS DEATH?
Ironically, Charlie Kirk was engaging with the crowd – answering a question about his pro-gun views – when student Tyler Robinson shot him.
One audience member asked: “Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?”, to which Kirk responded: “Too many.”

The questioner followed up: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”
Kirk responded, by asking: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”. A second later, Kirk was fatally shot in the neck by a single bullet.
