Former PRASA boss Lucky Montana resigns as MK Party MP

Lucky Montana, the former CEO of PRASA and a sitting uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party MP, has officially resigned from the National Assembly, effective 1 December 2025.

Mr Montana announced the move on social media, confirming he had informed the party leadership earlier this year and formally wrote to them on 30 August 2025.

MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela confirmed the resignation, praising Mr Montana’s contributions to strengthening the caucus.

“Cde Montana has served the MK Party with steadfast objectivity, constructive guidance and principled contributions that have strengthened our caucus and sharpened our collective political effectiveness.

His calm but firm leadership and strategic insight has served as an inspiration to many, especially the younger cadres who looked to him for consistency, discipline and revolutionary wisdom. His service to the movement and to the people of South Africa has been marked by loyalty, courage and unwavering conviction,” wrote MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela

While stepping down from his parliamentary seat, the party confirmed he remains committed to its broader political struggle.

Mr Montana’s departure marks a notable political shift for the MK Party, concluding his formal legislative role.
