Former Pirates star explains his move to Chiefs

Mako joined Chiefs alongside Thabiso Monyane, becoming one of 11 new signings since July last year.

Despite spending seven years at Orlando Pirates and earning fan-favourite status, the speedy left-back insists the transition has been smooth.

PASEKA MAKO ON HIS MOVE TO KAIZER CHIEFS

“I can say it was tough to come from the other side, and come to this side,” Mako said

“Like I have said, I don’t want to dwell on the past because my main focus is to help this team go forward and win trophies,” the Kaizer Chiefs defender added.

Mako further stressed the move was difficult, but said he views it professionally, noting that he is transitioning from one big club to another.

He added that the switch has not required a major adjustment and stressed that he remains the same person he was at his previous club.

CAF CONFEDERATION CUP GLORY

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Zambia’s ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, with Pule Mmodi finding the net inside the opening two minutes.

The narrow win at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola gave new life into Amakhosi’s Group D campaign, marking their first victory in the group stage this season.

Kaizer Chiefs had previously suffered a 2-1 defeat to Al-Masry in Egypt before settling for a 1-1 draw against Zamalek in Polokwane.

With this result, Kaizer Chiefs move level on four points with Zamalek, while Al-Masry continue to lead the group on six points. The two Egyptian sides are set to face each other in Cairo later this evening at 21:00.

Amakhosi will now turn their attention to the return fixture against ZESCO United, scheduled for Sunday, 1 February at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:00.
