Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has publicly backed celebrated South African coach Pitso Mosimane to take over as head coach of the Zimbabwe national football team.
This follows the recent sacking of Michael Nees, who was relieved of his duties after just 14 months in charge.
Under his spell as a national team coach, Nees guided Zimbabwe to qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
Katsande backs Pitso Mosimane for the job
Katsande, a former Warriors captain, took to social media to voice his support for Mosimane, saying:
“ZIFA, what are we waiting for? This man loves Zim players with all his heart.”
The post has since gained traction among Zimbabwean football fans, many of whom share Katsande’s sentiments.
Mosimane, one of Africa’s most decorated coaches, has enjoyed successful spells with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and Al Wahda, and is currently without a club after leaving his latest coaching post earlier this year.
