KwaZulu-Natal residents can expect a damp and humid spell as weather conditions shift overnight into Thursday. The South African Weather Service has forecast early morning fog and light coastal showers, with isolated thunderstorms developing inland by the afternoon.
“Fog patches are expected along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline tomorrow morning, reducing visibility to less than a kilometre,” warned SAWS forecaster Phemelo Zonke.
Motorists should drive with caution during the early hours.
Rain and humidity to dominate parts of KwaZulu-Natal
The inland regions, including Pietermaritzburg and Newcastle, could see isolated thunderstorms as the day progresses, while Durban and Richards Bay remain partly cloudy and humid.
“Conditions will remain warm and humid along the coast, with scattered showers expected in the afternoon,” Zonke said.
Warm to hot temperatures
Temperatures are forecast to reach 26°C in Durban and 29°C in the interior, with warm winds persisting throughout the day. The SAWS anticipates more scattered showers by Friday, particularly across the northern interior.
