The 2027 Rugby World Cup Australia 2027 organisers have just confirmed a star-studded talent line-up who will lead fans through the upcoming draw on 3 December, an eagerly awaited milestone following the announcement of all 24 teams now qualified for the tournament.
The tournament itself will be held between 1 October and 13 November 2027 and will be the first tournament to feature an expanded format contested by the world’s top 24 teams.
With the Springboks virtually assured of finishing at the top of the world rankings, the significance of this is worth noting as its these rankings that will be used to place the 24 teams into bands for the draw, with those ranked 1-6 in Band 1, 7-12 in Band 2 and so on.

LOTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Men’s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027 Managing Director, Chris Stanley, said: “With all 24 teams now confirmed for Men’s Rugby World Cup Australia 2027, the draw is an important moment for players, fans and the global rugby community. We’re thrilled to have such a distinguished line-up of legends leading the draw and know their insight, passion and expertise will make this event truly memorable.”
The first opportunity for fans to secure their place at RWC 2027 will be in February 2026 during an exclusive presale for those who have registered their interest at rugbyworldcup.com/2027.
All matches and price categories will be available during this presale, and fans are encouraged to register early to give themselves the best chance to secure tickets.
How does the draw work?
With all 24 teams confirmed, they will be seeded from 1 to 24 based on their World Rugby rankings at the time of the draw on 3 December.
The top six teams will be grouped in Band 1, while the next six form Band 2, and so on. Each pool will have one team from each of the four bands.
There is only one exception to all this: Australia already know they are in Pool A as they are host nation and will therefore contest the opening game on 1 October 2027.
The Wallabies are currently in Band 2, which means a team from Band 1 will be drawn and placed in Pool A, and they would automatically be joined by Australia.
