About the Energy Mobility Education Trust Scholarship 2026
The EMET Scholarship Programme provides financial assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing degrees in high-demand fields that align with South Africa’s growing energy and technology sectors.
Scholarships will be awarded for studies at selected partner universities:
- University of the Witwatersrand (WITS)
- University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- North-West University (NWU)
- University of Limpopo (UL)
- University of the Western Cape (UWC)
Fields of Study
The EMET Scholarship will fund studies in the following disciplines:
- Accounting
- Actuarial Science
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Information Science
- Mathematical Science
- Science
- Statistical Science
- Technology
Scholarship Coverage and Benefits
The EMET Scholarship covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation and meals
- Stipend (monthly allowance)
- Laptop and learning resources
- Textbooks and study materials
In addition, recipients will benefit from:
- Personal mentorship and academic support
- Student wellness and development programmes
- Networking opportunities with industry professionals and EMET partners

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for the 2026 EMET Scholarship:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be 32 years old or younger
- Must be Black, as defined by the B-BBEE Act
- Must be studying towards a qualification in one of the listed fields
- Must be entering your final year of undergraduate studies, or be enrolled in Honours, Masters, or PhD studies in 2026
- Must be studying at one of the partner universities (WITS, UJ, UP, NWU, UL, or UWC)
- Must have a total household income not exceeding R600,000 per annum
- Must demonstrate strong academic performance and financial need

Required Supporting Documents
Applicants must upload clear, certified copies of the following documents:
- South African ID document
- Full academic transcript/record (on institution letterhead)
- Fee statement (on institution letterhead)
- Proof of university registration or acceptance (on institution letterhead)
- Proof of parents’ or guardians’ household income
- Latest payslips (if employed)
- Affidavit (if unemployed)
- Proof of grant or pension (if applicable)
- Proof of own income, if applicable
