The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) invites unemployed graduates to apply for its 24-month Internship Programme based at the Western Cape Provincial Office in Bellville.

This opportunity is ideal for young South Africans who want to gain practical workplace experience in a respected Chapter 9 institution while launching their careers in Finance or Human Resources.

Internship Opportunities Available

Finance Internship

  • Business Unit: Financial Management

  • Contract Duration: 24 months
  • Stipend: R10 441.14 per month

Key Exposure & Duties

  • Capturing creditor payments and maintaining records
  • Assisting with procurement processes
  • Contract, facilities and pool vehicle administration
  • Asset inventory maintenance
  • Client and service provider interaction
  • Minute-taking, report writing, filing and correspondence

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 / N3 / NTC Level 4 plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-year National Diploma in Public Finance, Finance, Financial Management or Accounting
  • Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

Human Resources & Training Internship

  • Business Unit: Human Resource Management
  • Location: Western Cape Provincial Office (Bellville)
  • Contract Duration: 24 months
  • Stipend: R10 441.14 per month

  • HR generalist practices (Employee Relations, Wellness, Skills Development, Performance Management)
  • Recruitment and selection support
  • Conditions of service administration
  • Training plans and reporting
  • Corporate services and electoral operations exposure

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 / N3 / NTC Level 4 plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-year National Diploma in Human Resource Management, Training & Development, or Organisational Development
  • Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

Who Should Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be 35 years or younger
  • Be unemployed
  • Never have been an intern or worked in their field of study
  • Be willing to undergo risk assessments
  • Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and service orientation
