Springbok Eben Etzebeth has shared his dreams of one day working in the WWE in his new book, Unlocked, which was released last week.
The highest-capped Bok also addressed a 2019 incident in Langebaan in which he was accused of assault and using a racial slur against a group of coloured people.
EBEN ETZEBETH HAD DREAM TO BE IN WWE
In his memoir Unlocked, Eben Etzebeth wrote of his dream to pursue a professional wrestling career.
He shared: “I was a big WWE fan, and it was one of the options. My father finally convinced me that WWE was fake and that they don’t really hit each other, so I decided rugby is the way to go, because that’s definitely not fake”.
Etzebeth also claimed that he wasn’t always the fiercest-looking opponent.
He continued: I wasn’t always the biggest or the tallest. I wondered how my dad and uncles were so tall. But then came my grade 10 year, I had to change position, and then I found myself in the front”.
‘BEAST MODE’
While there is no doubt that Eben Etzebeth is nothing short of intimidating, many have claimed he inherited his “beast mode” from his late father and uncles.
In 2023, Etzebeth revealed the sad passing of his father, Harry, a seasoned wrestler. Harry was one of seven brothers who were known for their rugby and cricket skills, as well as bar brawls.

His two eldest uncles, Cliffie and Skattie, were also professional fighters who were part of the Parow Wrestling Club, reports Rugby 365.
Like his uncles, Etzebeth is also known for throwing hands – on the pitch. Over the years, the giant rugby star has been seen in various tiffs with his opponents.
