The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape scored another win against the illicit drug trade as the Plettenberg Bay Regional Court handed a hefty sentence to a drug dealer.
On 14 October 2025, the regional court sentenced 43-year-old Neo Mosoeu to 14 years in prison for dealing in drugs, with four years suspended for five years.
GEORGE POLICE RECEIVE A TIP-OFF ABOUT ILLICIT DRUG TRADE
SAPS in George received information on 27 August 2024 about an individual travelling through the Garden Route with a consignment of drugs.
They acted on the information on 28 August 2024 and spotted a Chevrolet Capitiva vehicle along the N12.
Officers stopped and searched the vehicle, recovering 40 000 mandrax tablets in a compartment at the back of the car.
The drugs had an estimated street value of R2 million.
They then arrested the 36-year-old driver, Vincent Mosoeu, for drug dealing.
THE ARREST OF NEO MOSOEU FOR DRUG DEALING
Further police investigations led to the arrest of 44-year-old, drug dealer, Neo Mosoeu.
Neo was identified as the manufacturer and supplier in the drug trade.
He remained in police custody until his sentencing, while the court released his co-accused, Vincent Mosoeu, on bail.
A SEARCH FOR VINCENT MOSOEU
Vincent Mosoeu failed to appear in court for his hearing, and the court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
