DJ Warras’ mother fears murder accused will flee if granted bail

The mother of slain media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock says she believes the man accused of orchestrating her son’s killing would evade trial if granted bail.

The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court is expected to deliver its ruling on the bail application of Victor Majola when proceedings resume on Monday.

Shot dead in Joburg CBD

Majola stands accused of being involved in the murder of DJ Warras, who was shot dead outside a building in Johannesburg last month.

According to the State, Majola played a central role in planning the killing.

The investigating officer told the court that details belonging to DJ Warras and his partner were found on Majola’s cellphone, forming part of the evidence linking him to the crime.

Speaking to SABC News, DJ Warras’ mother, Beverly Stock, said she fully supports the State’s opposition to bail, arguing that Majola poses a serious risk if released.

“I am very much agreeing with how the State presented their case – that the accused would present a danger if he is let out on bail, that he would intimidate witnesses,” Stock said.

Flight risk

She added that she believes Majola could easily disappear if granted bail.

“Because I myself am from rural KZN, I know that he would be a flight risk and we would never find him in the foothills of KwaZulu-Natal,” she said.

The bail application has drawn strong public interest, with the State maintaining that Majola’s release could jeopardise the investigation and the safety of witnesses.

The court is expected to consider arguments from both the prosecution and defence before handing down its decision on Monday.

The murder of DJ Warras sent shockwaves through the media and entertainment industry, with calls for justice continuing to grow as the legal process unfolds.
