Coronation Street star drops huge hint she’s returning to the cobbles – six years on from ITV exit

A CORONATION Street star has dropped a huge hint she’s returning to the cobbles – six years on from their ITV exit.

She starred on the ITV soap opera from 2004 until 2019 when she quit the role after welcoming her 1st child.

Brooke Vincent, 33, who played Sophie Webster, was last seen on screens in Weatherfield when she left to go travelling after inheriting money from her Aunty.

But as her two children are now growing up, she has revealed she would love to return to the programme should the call come in from soap bosses.

Brooke told the Mirror: “I feel like Corrie for me is home. Whenever, if ever, they ask me, I’d love to go back and see them.

“It’s a different type of job now we’ve got the boys. I’ve got a lot of friends there, it’s like my family.

“It’s such a lovely place to work, so definitely, I feel like I’ve had such a long time off that I’ve been able to enjoy my children without the schedule of how hard it can sometimes be.

“I think obviously now they’re a bit older and they’re a bit more independent, and there’s obviously the opportunity to take on more work.

“It’s the adult conversation, routine, it’s always a gorgeous place for me to work, and I have gone off and worked in different environments with different people, but Corrie is a huge part of me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have that.”

Earlier this year, Brooke reunited with all of the show’s current cast at an exclusive leaving bash for Colson Smith after he was axed from his role as Craig Tinker on the programme.

Whilst Colson has worked with countless stars past and present during his time in Weatherfield, Brooke was the only former member of the cast to join the group on the night out which raised eyebrows among soap fans.

She arrived alongside another returning star Ryan Thomas – who made a short comeback as Jason Grimshaw.

Taking to Instagram, Brooke shared a snap from inside the party as she posed with Colson.

The actress fuelled even more rumours of a comeback as she captioned the image: “A million memories together, my work little/ big brother, I adore you, I am so excited for your next adventure.

“A true friend and loved by everybody, last night shown that, See you soon my friend!”

Reacting to Brooke’s surprise appearance, one fan said: “Do I need to read anything into Brooke being at Colson’s leaving do? Sophie Webster return looms?”

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

Colson Smith – Craig Tinker

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.

Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw

After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.

Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe

Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.

Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster

In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley

The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.

Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe

The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

Another added: “Brooke was at Colson’s Corrie leaving do!! Would love her to return as Sophie on Corrie.”

The surprise outing came just weeks after Brooke revealed she would be keen to head back to the Cobbles again.

Asked by Charlotte Dawson on her podcast if she’d like to head back, she said: “I think I would, I think now the kids are a little bit older and they’re going to start school.

“I’d love to go back.”
