Confirmed: Bafana Bafana’s Afcon squad announced

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his 25-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon 2025) in Morocco on 21 December.

The Belgian tactician has trimmed his squad from an initial 54-man preliminary list that was revealed in November.

South Africa have been drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe. The first game kicks off on 22 December against Angola, followed by Egypt on the 26th, before the final group game against Zimbabwe on 29 December.

FINAL BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD FOR AFCON 2025

After scooping the bronze medal in the previous Afcon 2023 in Cote d’Ivoire, expectations are high on South Africa to become Afcon 2025 champions.

Standout omissions include Mamelodi Sundowns stars Themba Zwane and Iqraam Rayners, who have missed out after returning a bit too late from injuries.

Two youngsters, Tylon Smith and Shandre Campbell, have been placed on standby but will be part of the training camp.
