Coastal warnings for rough seas in KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal residents, particularly those near the coast, are urged to prepare for hazardous conditions.

Forecaster Mpho Rasimphi warned, “We have a level 2 warning of some damaging winds as we move towards the coast, which will make it difficult to navigate at sea.”

Strong gusts intensify these dangers for fishermen, shipping operators, and coastal communities.

Heatwave pressures inland parts of KwaZulu-Natal

Inland parts of the province face extreme heat, with temperatures climbing into the mid-30s. Areas like Ulundi and Pietermaritzburg can expect hot afternoons, adding to water stress and fire risks.

“Hot conditions are persisting over the interior, stretching into parts of the Northwest and Free State,” Rasimphi said.

Mixed rainfall outlook

While the Eastern Cape and Northwest are forecast to receive above-normal rainfall, KwaZulu-Natal may see only scattered showers.

“Rainfall is favourable in some provinces, but not everywhere will benefit,” Rasimphi cautioned.

Localised showers could provide temporary relief, yet prolonged dryness in parts of the province may worsen drought stress in rural communities.
