The City of Mbombela, in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, is implementing a Youth Empowerment and Development Programme under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
This programme aims to create job opportunities, promote environmental management, and provide skills development for unemployed youth, including graduates and matriculants classified as Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
About the EPWP Environmental Management Internship Programme
In response to high youth unemployment, the City of Mbombela is calling on eligible young people to apply for this EPWP Environmental Management Programme, which combines temporary employment with practical skills development in the environmental and biodiversity sector.
The programme targets unemployed and underemployed youth who are passionate about environmental sustainability and community development.
Internship Opportunities Available
The City of Mbombela is offering opportunities in the following categories:
1. Grade 12 Internship Opportunities
- Number of Posts: 51
- Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric)
- Location: Within the four regions of the Municipality
- Daily Stipend: R165.00
2. Diploma / Degree Internship Opportunities
- Number of Posts: 51
- Minimum Qualification: Diploma or Degree in:
- Environmental Sciences
- Agriculture
- Development Studies
- Or any other environment-related qualification
- Location: Within the four regions of the Municipality
- Daily Stipend: R271.04
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be young unemployed or underemployed professionals
- Age between 18 and 35 years
- Must hold the qualification listed for the relevant category
- Innovative, dynamic, and creative
- Committed to a career in the environmental or biodiversity sector
- People with disabilities are encouraged to apply
