Chilly and wet weather expected in KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal is expected to experience a sharp drop in temperatures this Sunday, accompanied by steady rain and cloudy skies, according to forecasters. The cold front, which began over the Western Cape, is expected to move eastward, bringing wet weather and chilly conditions to coastal regions.

Forecaster Joel Guy said, “This Sunday we will see that cold front moving further east and an increasing chance of wet weather over the South Coast and parts of the Eastern Cape.”

The system will extend into Durban and Richards Bay, where maximum temperatures are expected to reach only 23°C.

KZN’s inland areas to remain cold

Inland towns like Kokstad will remain particularly chilly, with highs of around 14°C. Guy added that the eastern parts of the province would continue to experience persistent cloud cover and occasional rain throughout the day.

“The cloudy and rainy weather is forecast for much of KwaZulu-Natal,” he said.

“It will be a cold and wet Sunday, so residents should keep warm and avoid unnecessary travel where visibility might be poor.”

Wet weather extends to Eastern Cape

The same system will also affect the Eastern Cape, with temperatures staying cool under widespread rain. Guy noted that rainfall probabilities range between 60% and 80% along the coast and adjacent inland regions.

“Wet and cold weather is also forecast around the Eastern Cape with highs in the lower 20s,” he said.
